Carmen, Pantsuit and the Parking Garage

Carmen is a model I met off Instagram. I followed her one day after filtering through the Boston models hashtag on the website. I had mood boarded this idea of having someone in a pants suit in a parking garage and decidedly sent it to Carmen asking if she would like to participate in this idea. She reached back out and let me know of her interest and so we began the process of setting up the shoot. We found an outfit Carmen had in her closet and decided to use that to our benefit, as this was a first meeting and it’s nice to build that model/photographer relationship before moving into more serious work (I think at least). Our comfort around each other on shoot day was almost immediate and made for what should have been a great shoot… Until I couldn’t remember how to load my Mamiya CC330 like an idiot.

Try as I might the film just would not wind, and it wasn’t until I got home that I realized it was because of the shutter not being cocked. Luckily for me however I had my Canon Ae-1P with a 100mm F2.8 and Pentax K1000 with a 50mm F1.7 with me as well. A planned shoot saved by me over zealously packing more than I would ever need. The Canon was loaded with Kodak Pro-Image 100 and the Pentax with Kodak TMax 100.

For a bit of spice, and because you got this far I also took images on my Polaroid SX-70. Polaroid we need to talk about this $20.00 for 9 shots thing - that’s ridiculous
